What is LEHA?

ThoughtSwift Laboratory Electronic Health Assessments (LEHA) provide two distinct services:  documentation for every prescription filled and ensuring providers identify lab testing candidates.  Laboratories are under increasing scrutiny to document why each lab test was ordered, and failure to document the medical necessity of each prescription filled opens the laboratory to be assessed a chargeback for services performed. Each LEHA is performed on a tablet and takes around 7 minutes.  Once complete the provider and the laboratory have documented justification for writing and filling each script.  The LEHA automatically screens potential candidates for advanced lab testing and highlights for the provider if the patient is a candidate, while providing the medical necessity for each script written.

LEHA screens for the following conditions:

  • Alcohol usage
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Tobacco use
  • Opioid risk

  • History of ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar, OCD
  • Pharmacogenetics testing
  • Carrier genetic testing
  • Hereditary cancer testing
  • Toxicology testing

How Does It Work?

Once a patient completes the assessments, usually in less than seven minutes, a color coded report is sent to the providers, instantly outlining the patient’s mental condition, counseling needs and if they are a candidate for advanced lab testing.  Providers then can address mental and physical concerns of the patient as well as prescribe advanced testing.  Since the average provider spends less than seven minutes with the patient they need a tool that helps them identify areas of concern quickly and there is no longer guess work if the patient would benefit from laboratory testing.

Increase Provider Loyalty

Although there are some differences in lab processes, most laboratory services are essentially the same .  Since providers can not legally receive any financial benefit from lab service, there is little loyalty and providers can and do change their lab providers on a whim. The ThoughtSwift LEHA program increases provider loyalty by providing more valuable services to your provider needed in their practice as well as a legal income stream that is only available to them through your laboratory. Participating laboratories also increase their revenue through improved adjudication rates, increased awareness of the need for more patients who are candidates for specialized testing .
